Letting Go and Moving On

02/03/2012 - 02/05/2012

Weekend Retreat

Friday 6 pm to Sunday 4 pm

To become who we can be we have to let go of the person we were:
the negative beliefs, ideas, limitations…

Life is filled with both positive and negative experiences. Hanging onto negative experiences prevents us from healing them and moving forward in life. We cling to our fears believing they protect us. So we live like prisoners in an unlocked cell refusing to leave because we falsely believe the cell protects us.

This state creates symptoms of stress which has been identified as a leading cause of many health problems. Stress is largely psychological, rather than physical in origin and therefore much more difficult to prevent and remedy. Regardless of its origins, stress drains our physical, emotional and mental energy. Stress is simply a messenger guiding us back to a state of balance and health.

In this retreat you will:

  • Learn effective techniques to free the mind from dwelling on the past
  • Understand how to protect yourself from negative influences
  • Identify different levels of stress and rise above them to create a relaxed mind and body
  • Gain confidence in dealing with difficult relationships
  • Practice meditation to calm and redirect the mind
  • Enjoy journaling, creative activities, Qigong (Chi Movement) and nature walks

Facilitators: Sally Fitts and Veena Kapoor

Circle of Wise Women ~ Staying Present in the Palace of Possibilities

03/04/2012

CWW

10 am to 3 pm

In a world in which we find ourselves breathless, this is an invitation to be inspired, to breathe in knowledge and to develop a very personal daily practice into your soul. Discover a simple practice of transformation in daily life with a deeply-sourced soul, Susan Kirsch. We will listen to her personal journey and learn how to write poetry gathered through all senses with reverence to the nature of others and the Sacred in Nature. We will resonate with a deep knowing that the only way to counterbalance the realities of the world is with love, empathy, generosity and care.

Facilitator: Susan Kirsch, author of Simply Go*d: Praise Poems Celebrating the Divine in Daily Life, describes a morning practice that richly awakens body, mind and spirit. It culminates with a two-part journal entry including a visual image on the right side of the page and a praise poem on the left. When she’s not writing or gardening, Susan consults with nonprofit organizations around issues of fundraising and strategic planning. She has raised funds for education, housing, water, and mental health, among other needs. Susan is an advisor for the Social Justice Center of Marin, former board member of the Marin Interfaith Council, and president of her neighborhood association. In the foreward to Simply Go*d, philanthropist Tracy Gary writes, “I have no idea if it is prayer, activism, or advocacy that will change the world. What I know is that Susan Kirsch is doing all three and invites us here, through her very moving reverence, grace-filled poetry, and personal example to rebalance our ways for the sake of the whole."

We invite all women to participate in Circle of Wise Women. We meet once every quarter with a different guest facilitator covering various spiritual themes.

Includes wholesome and delicious vegetarian lunch.
