Positive Thinking

06/03/2012

Day Retreat

10 am - 5 pm

Thoughts and emotions play a very crucial role in affecting how we perform at home, at work, and in all aspects of our daily lives.

The energy of the human mind is thought. Thought is said to be one of the greatest, but least understood, energy resources of the universe. When we learn to understand and harness the energy of the mind, we are able to master our lives and produce those thoughts that give the most happiness and fulfillment. The mind has the power to create whatever it focuses on. Even if you think you are already fairly positive in life, you can benefit tremendously by looking at how much we do to ourselves unconsciously. Life will never be without its challenges. Knowing how to create a positive attitude can change a problem into an opportunity, making life seem less perilous and more enjoyable.

Through discussion, meditation and reflection, creative activity and exercises, this day retreat will take you on a journey to explore the power and influence of thought and the impact of positive attitudes. It will also look at the underlying spiritual principles that help maintain positivity in your daily life.

Topics Covered:

  • Getting to know my mind
  • Taking charge of life's experiences
  • Creating my own reality
  • Developing positive self-awareness
  • Creative exercises, Qigong and walking in nature

Facilitators: Elizabeth Padilla and Harsha Madatanapalli

Elizabeth Padilla has been a teacher and student of Raja Yoga meditation for 25 years. She is the program manager as well as main facilitator for programs at Anubhuti. Elizabeth is a singer and artist who has performed with the American Conservatory Theater and Beach Blanket Babylon. Elizabeth brings depth of experience and a sensitivity for guiding each one on their spiritual path.

Harsha Madatanapalli, B.Tech, M.S in Computer Engineering, IT Consultant for Business Intelligence projects, Raja yoga meditation since 2005. Harsha teaches meditation at the San Francisco center. He facilitates retreats at Anubhuti including Inner Peace Inner Power and those for youth and men.

Circle of Wise Women ~ Interweaving Business Development and Community with Elinor Stutz

06/10/2012

CWW

Half–Day Retreat

10 am to 3 pm

When we take the time to build community along with our business working for the greater good, more people benefit. In return, our results are far greater than if we were to work solely on our own behalf. We enjoy a community effort working to support one another and in essence our community becomes our sales staff recommending us to everyone they know. When this process is implemented, it becomes an easy transition online to reach millions. Your results are easier to come by and more powerful than ever. This is the definition of the Smooth Sale!

Guest Facilitator: Elinor Stutz, Founder and CEO of Smooth Sale, International Speaker, Author and Trainer

Elinor had one of those near-death experiences you read about but never happens to you. Her life flashed in front of her in the form of a report card. On the left hand side, she had very high marks, but the right hand side was startling for her – it was blank and entitled Community Service! She instantly recognized a need to begin giving back to communities at large. Elinor vowed, "If I were able to walk out of the hospital, I would begin doing just that." It was on that stretcher while waiting to be admitted, that she wrote her first business plan – to help others near and far understand how to take their natural talents and convert those into sales and grow business. Elinor's International Best-Selling book, “Nice Girls DO Get the Sale: Relationship Building That Gets Results” published by Sourcebooks was featured in TIME Magazine, translated into multiple languages and sells worldwide.

Living Values Education: Educating Hearts as Well as Minds!

07/27/2012 - 07/29/2012

LVEP logo

Weekend Retreat

Friday 6 pm to Sunday 4 pm

Join us for a relaxing and inspiring weekend of reflecting on your values, rekindling your passion for teaching, learning about Living Values Education and exploring the skills that create a values-based atmosphere. The workshop will also include reflection, sharing, role playing and walks.

Living Values Education Program is a comprehensive values education program that offers a practical methodology and a wide variety of experiential values activities to help educators help students explore and develop values and learn the intrapersonal and interpersonal social and emotional skills to carry them through.

The world and our children are in real need of teachers that are willing to educate hearts as well as minds. LVE offers resource materials for regular and at-risk children.

Results: Positive changes in teacher-student and in student-student relationships both inside and outside the classroom.  Increase in respect, caring, cooperation, motivation, and the ability to solve peer conflicts. Aggressive behaviors decline as positive social skills and respect increase. LVEP helps educators create safe, caring, values-based atmospheres for quality learning.

Facilitator: Diane Tillman, Licensed Educational Psychologist and the primary author of the award-winning Living Values Series.

Cost:  While the presenters volunteer their time, there will be a $100 LVE fee, which includes a Living Value Activity book.  Please also plan to make a donation for meals and two nights of accommodation to the retreat center.

Testimonials from previous participants:

“I felt truly inspired by the first Living Values Seminar and I embraced the ideals and "values" immediately.  They were things that I already knew I believed and wanted to impart as a teacher.  Teaching the 3 Rs are important, but I always felt my duty was to do more, especially in this world we live in . . . ”

“There are many band-aids in the market today; Living Values is a program of integrity and self-reflection for the whole child.”

“Every day, I see evidence all around our school and community that the anti-bullying programs are not effective.  The kids realize it is the next bandwagon and go through the motions but don't put it into practice. After the LVE workshop I felt hope.  …

(After implementing LVE) Our administration team noticed a significant drop in the number of visits these children were making to the office. There was only one suspension all year. Other staff members commented that "something big" had changed the atmosphere of the school. The hallways, bathrooms, playground, bus stops and community hangouts were not seeing the violence and aggression they once had. These were the gauges I used to measure success.

The journey was a long one but well worth the effort. Every child had increased self-worth and self respect when the year ended. They were not perfect. They were more aware of how they affected the world around them and wanted that to be more positive than it had been. I wish that we could have stayed together another year. The LVE workshop I attended changed my attitude toward how the year was going to go and the LVE activities we did together changed all of us for the better.”
